David de Gea is being considered by NEWCASTLE as a shock replacement for injured goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Eddie Howe, the manager of the Toon, was cautioned by Arsenal, though, to rule out a January raid for Aaron Ramsdale.

Pope’s shoulder dislocation during Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League victory against Manchester United has left him out of the game for FIVE MONTHS.
The Magpies are thinking of making a big move for De Gea, a free agent and former No. 1 for Manchester United.
The 33-year-old Spaniard is without a club after United released him in the summer.
Martin Dubravka, Toon No. 2, will get a chance to make an impression before Howe chooses whether to substitute someone.
Ramsdale, 25, is an additional choice after David Raya cost him his spot at the Gunners, although a January transfer could be more than £40 million.
“I am very happy to have two very good keepers and Aaron is staying with us,” stated Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal.
“I desire for him to be among us. He wants to play for Arsenal, just as every other player does, and we want to improve as a squad, thus we want to add to our current roster in January.
However, Ramsdale has already received a warning from England manager Gareth Southgate that if he is not playing regular first team games, his spot in his squad for the European Championships next summer may be in peril.
And after being an ever-present in the Premier League the previous season, his father Nick has infuriated Arsenal by criticizing the manner his son Raya has taken his place.
“I have spoken to Aaron about England, and I don’t expect it to be a problem,” Arteta disclosed.
“Since he hasn’t started many games for England, maybe we can help him improve here at Arsenal so that he can represent his nation.”
Although Ramsdale, who cost £30 million when he was acquired from Sheffield United in 2021, inked a new four-year contract with Emirates in May, he has only made one Premier League appearance in the previous three months and has been benched for all of Arsenal’s Champions League matches.
Prior to Pope’s £10 million signing from Burnley in 2022, Dubravka served as the first-choice goaltender for the Toon for three and a half years. However, during the previous season, the Slovakian was subordinate to De Gea while on loan at Old Trafford.
After spending 12 years at United and winning the Premier League’s Golden Glove award the previous season, De Gea left the team when he wasn’t given a new contract. Andre Onana took his place at Old Trafford.
After losing to Manchester City in the FA Cup final in June, no one has attempted to replace the Spanish stopper.
Pope’s indefinite absence is only the most recent setback for Howe’s team, which is beset by injuries.
After diving to his left toward the end of the victory over United, the 31-year-old was in excruciating pain.
Although the joint was promptly realigned, he will require surgery, which might keep him out of the game for up to five months. It is unlikely that he will be able to play this season.
Pope has been playing well, but he may have a difficult time getting into the Three Lions team for the Euros next summer after being left out of consecutive England squads.
Loris Karius, a former Liverpool goalkeeper, will be Dubravka’s backup before Mark Gillespie.
