Actress Lydia Forson has called upon politicians to prioritize homegrown policies that distinguish Ghana, cautioning against uncritically adopting Western models.

She expressed concerns over the credit system promoted by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, acknowledging its benefits in the West but highlighting its potential to burden individuals with debt.

In a recent statement, Forson emphasized the need for Ghana to forge its own path rather than relying solely on Western benchmarks. She urged policymakers to develop tailored solutions that align with Ghana’s unique socio-economic landscape.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, campaigning in northern Ghana, has pledged to introduce a credit scoring system aimed at facilitating hire purchase options for Ghanaians.
