The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially appointed Ghanaian tactician Laryea Kingston as the new Head Coach of all Uganda National Men’s Junior Teams on a two-year contract.

The announcement was made in Kampala by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.

Kingston, a former Ghana international, holds UEFA A and CAF B coaching licenses, bringing a wealth of experience and technical expertise to Ugandan youth football.

Prior to this appointment, he served as Head Coach of Ghana’s U17 national team and also worked with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark as part of the Right to Dream Academy setup β€” renowned for developing young African talent.

He takes over from another Ghanaian, Samuel Kwesi Fabin, who led Uganda’s U17 and U20 national teams in 2019.

Kingston’s appointment underscores FUFA’s continued confidence in Ghanaian coaches to shape the future of Ugandan football through structured youth development.

Meanwhile, Brian Ssenyondo will retain his position as Head Coach of the Uganda U17 team as they prepare for next month’s FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar. Ssenyondo has confirmed this will be his final assignment at that level but remains open to future roles within the national setup.

Kingston’s arrival is expected to bring renewed energy and a modern tactical approach to Uganda’s junior teams, strengthening the country’s long-term vision to nurture world-class football talent.
