Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo has blamed Ghanaโs failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on individualistic play and lack of team chemistry.
The Black Stars โ four-time AFCON champions โ failed to qualify for the tournament for the first time in 20 years after finishing bottom of their group with three draws and three defeats.
“I watched the qualifiers, and what I realised was that there was too much individuality,” Sibo told Asempa FM.
“You can see the bond and love among the players now for the World Cup qualifiers, but during the AFCON qualifiers, we did not see that.”
Despite the AFCON setback, Ghana bounced back strongly in 2025 with wins over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and a third-place finish at the Unity Cup in London.
The Black Stars are set to regroup in September for Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures against Chad and Mali.
