In a bid to support industrial garment companies and provide employment opportunities for young Ghanaians, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has initiated the disbursement of funds for the newly launched “Youth in Garment and Textile Module.” Under this program, approximately 2,000 beneficiary trainees will receive financial support for skills training and employment opportunities.

Representatives from around forty (40) industrial garment companies and small-scale beneficiary applicants gathered at the YEA’s head office to receive their cheques after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Agency. This disbursement marks an important step forward in promoting the growth of the garment and textile industry, while simultaneously tackling youth unemployment in Ghana.

The disbursement of funds is set to continue until the middle of September 2023. During their training period, the trainees will also receive a monthly stipend of GHC 500.00 as a means of financial support.

The implementation of the “Youth in Garment and Textile Module” not only provides young Ghanaians with valuable skills training but also creates employment opportunities within the industry. Through partnerships with industrial garment companies, the YEA aims to ensure that trainees receive hands-on experience and exposure to different aspects of garment production and textile work.

This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting youth employment and supporting the growth of industries that contribute to national development. By empowering young individuals with relevant skills and facilitating their transition into gainful employment, the program aims to enhance the overall socio-economic landscape of Ghana.
